San Juan Cafe was opened in February 2010 by Chef Danny Keegan. A Puerto Rican Native, Danny grew up in the small town of Guanica where he began helping his mother cook for their family at a young age.
After leaving Puerto Rico, Danny chose to pursue Culinary Arts at Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, South Carolina. After graduating he set off to explore culinary diversity in places such as Key West, Charleston, SC, Maryland, and Washington DC. Finally he relocated to Wilmington with his family where he met William Quetel.
Chef William Quetel was born in Saint Thomas, US Virgin Islands. He started cooking to pay for college but fell in love with the Art. With over 30 years in the restaurant business he has worked in major restaurants in places such as Los Angeles, San Fransisco, New Jersey, and his hometown of Saint Thomas.
After relocating to Wilmington with his family, Billy met Danny and they began planning to open a restaurant. After 2 years of planning they finally joined forces to bring you a collaboration of the food they love to Wilmington.
At San Juan cafe, your happiness is our highest priority. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please do not hesitate to ask. With every new guest, we hope to make a friend!
